Dead Format

Go figure!
Another format's on the way out.
A good idea once, but there's a better one now.
Hoard what's left?
Or throw it all out?
A piece of the past, should it last?
Without a doubt!

Lebanon

The cover of Atom Heart Mother is what I see once I break free from the city limits.
Cornwall canyons stand tall in the summer heat.
The cold exposes fields of chicken sheds and winter wheat.
A beacon beckons from afar whenever I'm in my car.
It says, "you're almost home."
Home!
Where I want to be after I roam.
I'm not a native, but I've been here long enough to feel like I can go anywhere, anytime on foot or on a bike.
No place is perfect, but this place is close enough.
The good things keep sanding away at the edges that are still rough.

Hey, Sarah!
01:35
|
|||
I hope you realize that change can be good.
I know you've been busy, but if you would consider it while taking our country back, you'd see that going back would be rather wack.
You can't cherry pick the good old days.
It's all or nothing.
You can't cherry pick the good old days.
If that's what you want, I think you're crazy!
The choice to go back would be a bad one.
For example, let's use your youngest son.
Back in the day he'd be locked away.
He'd be nothing more than a burden on society.

Ghosts
01:13
|
|||
Asleep in a corner where there is no air, I catch a whiff of a cigarette.
I don't like the smell, but I think of where I am.
So I roll over and say, "hi, dad!"
How to explain?
I take something mundane and put it in the place of the faces I'll never see again because they're dead, quite dead.
And that's how I acknowledge my ghosts.

Best Visual Metaphor
02:48
|

On a cold winter's morning certainly at the dawn of something new I saw a white, American minivan broken down on the side of the road.
A W sticker on the rear windshield a white flag hanging off the side.
Not announcing surrender , but in distress, in the hope, the hope of being rescued from the state, the state of duress.
Please somebody, take it away!
I passed the van and I passed it again.
It went nowhere, but looked no worse.

Spaced

Holding on while spaced out, I keep going in and out.
I'm hearing what you say, yes and no.
It's either too early or too late.
So sorry, never apologize!
I'll kick you down the stairs!
There's no harm.
an inside joke
a little poke
To be less meek.
To be less like me.

S T O P

A carpet bomb of words, words so absurd in this day and age
Don't know if he means so, are they meant to cause outrage?
It would be nice if just once or twice he'd think before he speaks.
Just once or twice, it would be nice to see him walk up and not sigh.
Aw, just S T O P!

Threads
03:26
|
|||
Two men, two photographs
Both men standing in the same pose.
The older one is younger.
The younger one staring off as a day comes to a close.
Both men in uniform, both volunteered to serve.
One spent four years training.
One spent nine days explaining.
One woman, she knows both men.
She calls the older one handsome.
She calls the younger one her son.
She's seen them both fall down, get themselves up, dust themselves off and get back on the right track more or less again.
These threads are call heartstrings.
They never break.
But they do take time to heal.
a little time
a little more time
a lot of time
Is all it will take.

Last Leaf
02:08
|
|||
Johnsy looking out the window, watching leaves as they fall one after another.
None will remain tomorrow.
Johnsy caused Sue to panic.
Johnsy why so dramatic?
So young, so drastic, your declaration so bombastic.
Behrman came to see.
"Oh, Behrman, can you help?" was Sue's plea.
I see that leaf every day.
I see that leaf knowing it won't go away.
That last leaf reminds me to be more Behrman and less Johnsy.

Lower Milford
01:09
|

19 square miles for 40 years served the needs of 180 kids.
They tripled the size, updated it all.
20 years later, it had to close.
Who made that call?
The posh side of town made that call.
Their own palace had to fall and be replaced.
Their own kids would never, never be displaced.

In Search Of

Over the top, who'd have guessed?
Played along but he never was impressed.
Said yes, then he quit the band in a short span.
Everyone knows this all-consuming music fan.
Has a list and he's checking it twice.
Plays along but he'll never play twice.
You'll see that he's for real.
He's always searching for something new.
Captain Crust played pop punk.
Then he went for the stoned drone.
Look out!
Here comes Jerry Garcia's clone.

Dillingersville
01:20
|
|||
Time didn't erase this village with orchards on both ends and a lumber mill in between.
The dominion of a dutchie clan, a man named Metro and Krikorians in between.
One orchard's gone and half the clan is dead.
The borders haven't spread.
Not much has changed 40 years after they sold 40 acres and a house and a barn.
Not much can be done with a steep hill on one side and a swamp on the other.
The fruit trees may be gone but the buildings live on in Dillingersville.

Fortune Beckoning Cat
01:13
|
|||
I bought this fortune beckoning cat.
In its paw I placed a wish.
I sat around most of the day.
My fortune never came my way.
So sad the opportunity passed.

We started playing in 2008. Genre? Whatever comes out of the instruments is ok with us. If we laugh at it, it's most likely a keeper.
